Sabu Dies at 61 | Pro Wrestling Legend Remembered by Fellow Wrestler

This is a very sad day for me...

The wrestling world has lost a true icon.

Terry Brunk—known across the globe as Sabu—passed away on May 11, 2025, at the age of 61. His passing came just weeks after stepping into the ring one last time, defeating Joey Janela at GCW’s WrestleMania weekend event. For many of us, that final match now feels more like a farewell than we realized at the time.

As someone who shared locker rooms with him, watched him work up close, and saw the intensity he brought to every single show, I want to speak not only as a fellow pro wrestler, but as someone who admired him.

Sabu wasn’t just another performer—he was a force. A true original. Whether it was the barbed wire, the broken tables, or the moonsaults that came out of nowhere, he made chaos into an art form. His fearless commitment to his craft elevated not just ECW or the hardcore style—it elevated all of us who ever tried to follow him.

I had the privilege of sharing space with Sabu at several events over the years. Backstage, he was quiet—focused. But in the ring, he was a storm. He had a presence that could change the temperature in the building, and a style that couldn’t be copied—only respected.

He never asked for flowers. He just showed up and left it all out there.

To his family, his friends, and his fans all over the world, I offer my deepest condolences. I hope you know how much he meant to so many of us—not just as a performer, but as a person. Sabu was a legend, yes—but he was also a fighter, a mentor, and a man who carved his legacy with scars, sweat, and silence.

We lost a brother in this business. And the world lost a pioneer.

Rest in peace and power, Sabu.
We’ll never forget what you gave this industry.

Sabu (Terry),

Your spirit will forever remain a part of the wrestling world forever!!!

Love and respect bro....
